Property developer Gentian with two of their long-standing partners Shorewood Homes and SM:5 Developments have purchased Kings Worthy Court and House on the outskirts of Winchester. The 3.2-acre site in the village of Kings Worthy comprises a 1970s single storey office block and a Grade II listed three storey detached property in need of refurbishment.
Gentian and Shorewood Homes will work together on the portion of the site that encompasses the vacant office block, Kings Worthy Court, and its car park. Preliminary plans include redeveloping the brownfield site for a mix of up to 16 two, three and four-bed family homes.
SM:5 Developments will work with Gentian on the Grade II listed building, Kings Worthy House, which requires remedial and improvement works. Options for its future use are currently being considered to ensure a viable solution for this heritage asset.
Nick Ekins, Managing Director of Gentian said: "Our aim is to make significant, positive improvements to this prime brownfield site in the heart of Kings Worthy that has been victim to vandalism and antisocial behaviour. Alongside Shorewood Homes and SM:5 Developments we are committed to developing plans that are sensitive to the local area."
Simon Machola, Director of Shorewood Homes said: "We're very pleased to be part of this project in Kings Worthy where we have a strong track record. We're working hard to be able to share proposals for the residential part of the scheme in the coming months."
Adam Smith, Construction Director of SM:5 Developments said: "Kings Worthy House is a complex restoration project and we're enjoying working with Gentian to give the building the attention it deserves. We're interested in taking on projects that are often complex in nature but regenerate the local area."
Gentian and Shorewood Homes work together as joint venture partners on residential property schemes. The two companies delivered the Springvale Rise development of 13 new homes in Kings Worthy in 2021 which all sold off plan prior to construction being completed.
Gentian and SM:5 Developments have worked together on numerous projects including the refurbishment of several of Gentian's key properties on Winchester High Street.
